I reclaimed about 100 square feet of lawn under a Walnut tree with an adjacent Redbud by shredding many bags of Oak leaves and just covering up the grass last fall. Then this year I added some mulch from branches of a Bradford Pear Tree that I cut down and chipped up. I planted on Wlld Ginger plant in there this Spring to see how it would do. So far so good. I plan to add three more plants in hopes they’ll spread. Hopefully they’ll fill in the whole area.

Sounds like a wonderful project. I hope your wild ginger continues to do well.
