I have a small milkweed patch in my backyard, and I have never seen so many monarch caterpillars as I have this year. I even saw the butterfly laying the eggs! So far there are two chrysalides (I googled that but it doesn’t look right) that I have been able to find.

I think one of the best things about having milkweed in your yard is the connection it provides to nature. Fantastic that you got to see a butterfly laying eggs!

I tried to plant common milkweed seeds this spring through summer. I put them in the fridge as the package suggested, but all died before I could put them into the ground. i live across the street from Bob. Do we have any wild milkweed locally, where I could transplant plants to my garden?
Bob
We also did not have any luck growing milkweed from seeds. Last spring we got some plants from the Civic Garden Center in Cincinnati.
