I know someone in the 2%! Sister keeps her cats indoors (or tries) after years of roaming. They adopted her as a roamer and she is squirrelly and persistent. She taught her brother the love of roaming as well. Now she does still escape occasionally but they try hard to keep her inside. Being hit by a car (and losing some fights) helped convince them. They leash her and take her out to smell. Brother cat does not tolerate the leash and stays inside. They also built a catio which both cats love.
